The great thing about indie authors is that most of us are in the same boat. We are trying to eke out a living and make a name for ourselves amongst a sea of others doing exactly the same thing. According to the laws of the jungle, it should be every man (or woman) for himself/herself and we should be trying to trip up the competition in order to pull in readers for ourselves.
That's just not the way it is with indie authors. Truthfully, that's not the way it is with most writers I know. We help each other out. We scratch each other's backs (figuratively -- I don't play that way) and promote each other's work. We encourage each other and rejoice in victories while consoling each other in failures.
